Chalk FIT: A Senior Tradition

The Senior Illustration Class of FIT has had a tradition of using chalk to cover their outside walls since 2013. After a brief pandemic hiatus Chalk Art returned last year and this year I was fortunate enough to see the students hard at work. Each student is supposed to pick a song lyric for inspiration as the theme for this year. From Oct. 24 - Oct. 28th the students use the FIT buildings as their canvas. The work will be completed by this weekend and according to student artist Donovan Delgado (pictured) it should remain for almost a year. This is amazing since all they do is mix the chalk with water to get it to the desired consistency. And next year there will be a new Senior Illustration class that will have their turn. Stop by West 27th Street, between Seventh and Eighth avenues to see their work for yourself.
