A trip to FARM Rio NYC “Dress in Happiness”
My longing for warm weather brings me back to a memorable visit to Brazil. Well, the closest I have gotten. During the holidays I was walking through Soho in NYC when I stopped in the FARM Rio store on Prince St. I almost went past as I had a long awaited lunch reservation but I have always been drawn to this eco-conscious brand from Brazil and the sumptuous window display beckoned to me.
FARM Rio is known for its exuberant prints and bold colors and upon entering I was immediately aware that this was not the typical retail experience. It is a tropical escape from the cold and dreary urban landscape. The garments are suspended on racks in meandering rows through actual sand. The store stylist greets you with a friendly warning to be careful while walking around which is actually necessary since it’s impossible to tear your gaze away from the eye catching prints commanding your attention. Adding to the charm are the macrame fitting rooms that are like personal beach huts. The only thing missing was a caipirinha!
The good vibes have stayed with me as I have not stopped thinking about what a happy experience it was surrounded by these beautiful clothes.
