What My Mom Friends Want For Mother’s Day

Some years are easier than others. So if this is one of those times where you have no idea, let’s go right to the source. I asked my Mom friends what they would like for Mother’s Day to help take the guesswork out. They were more than happy to oblige!

So, husbands, partners, kids, anyone who wants to give a gift - here you go:

  • KINDLE Give a gift of endless opportunities to escape into the instantly downloadable world of her choice, or, her book club’s monthly pick. Kindles come in many price points, so hopefully there is one that fits your budget. I also added a Fire tablet as that is what I use instead of a Kindle. Mom already has a Kindle? You can get her a Kindle gift card. Waited until the last minute? You can send her an e-gift card. This gift is almost foolproof!

  • ALEXIS BITTAR Brooklyn born designer, Alexis Bittar, is back and better than ever. In addition to his successful and instantly recognizable lucite jewelry designs, he has expanded his talents into metallic organic forms and chic handbags. His designs are known for being a little edgy, perhaps a nod to the club days of his youth, and, of course, his many vibrant color options.

  • LE LABO This shop began in Nolita on Elizabeth Street in NYC and has stayed true to its mission of creating soul infused scents with the finest ingredients. Using their products envelope you into an intoxicating experience for the senses. You feel really, really spoiled. I say this as someone who has stashed some Le Labo toiletries for days when I just need a little something special.

  • FLOWERS This classic never goes out of style. It has never been easier to send flowers to someone you love. Can you say Amazon? There are even options for flower Legos, 3-D bouquet cards and preserved roses that last forever.

  • STATEMENT RINGS They are a fun and fashionable choice that’s perfect for when that special someone wants to be fun and fashionable. A great way to add some pizazz and personalization to any outfit. Some of these are surprisingly affordable. All are under $500.

  • SNEAKERS There’s nothing like a new pair of kicks to put a spring in her step and keep her comfortable. These are some of the most sought after styles of the season some of which are nostalgic old school reboots. The edit includes the hard to find Adidas Sambas that are actually available on Amazon right now. I may have to get myself a pair before they sell out.

  • A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP If your special someone is tossing and turning and just can’t get to sleep or has trouble staying asleep or just can’t wake up, try one of these. I can personally vouch for the Caspar pillow and a humidifier. They are game changers. I would love to try the Hatch but we have a 4 year old as an alarm clock in the morning. I would bet it is not as soothing.

  • SUMMER TOTE A good bag is a good bag and a great bag is a godsend. What kind of travel tote makes a great bag? In my opinion it is one that is attractive, lightweight, folds up, hold all the things yet is not too precious. Water resistant is a plus. If you have not seen my tote from @thesoukmaisonette you should because they check all those boxes. Maria is happy to ship! I also included some others below since we all like to have options. Some even have an insulated compartment for storing food and drinks and come in a variety of colors and patterns.

  • TECH (THAT MAKES LIFE EASIER) There are times where I marvel at technology and how it really improves quality of life. Of course, there are times where tech makes me wish for the good ol’ days like when I can’t order on an app because there is no wifi. But, I digress. These are the tech items that do the opposite and bring unending happiness.

  • COZINESS Tech can be great and all and even simulate human interaction (AI I am looking at you) but it can’t replace a good hug or something that is soft to the touch or silky smooth. Here are some things that will let your loved one know how much you truly care. At the top of the list are pajamas from MeUndies. They are truly the softest and stretchiest night clothes I have ever worn and they never get too hot. A gift from my husband, these are a definite winner. Thanks, Hon. And here are some other cozy gifts that will make you want to snuggle up.
