Every year the holidays come and every year we are faced with what gifts to give. Some years are easier than others. We have more money or less people to shop for or everyone on your list knows what they want. Other years we struggle for one reason or another. The kids are older or your parents have everything they need or you have simply no clue what people would like. Clearly the spirit of the season does not require physical presents but there is something magical that happens when a gift is given out of love and received with the same. So with that I have compiled a list of thoughtful ideas for those that could use it.

We got it last spring when my son was 10 and have been slowly working our way through it. This book is about everyday life skills and eases into the lessons with some things that seem obvious that can easily cause your child to feel overconfident in that he/she/they knows it all already. I am sure I am not the only one with a child like this. But eventually you will hit a task or topic that is new and it will become a learning experience and as we found would stir up a real conversation (can you see my Grinchy heart expanding?) with thought and analysis and feelings. What are some activities we can do with our older folks/grandparents? Younger kids, babies? How to chop an onion? How to write a check? How to make guests feel comfortable? How to be a good guest? Worth every penny even if he has not yet mastered the art of folding his clothes and putting them away. At least he knows about it and is thinking about it or knows he should be thinking about it!
