Childhood Dreams Come True: Manifestation is Real

St. Anne Patron Saint of Fashion

I am not a journaler or a meditator. I have had moments, though, where it appears that mindset does manifest results. For example, the day I started telling people that “I am a stylist.” instead of “I am trying to be a stylist.” This is one of those times.

To anyone that needs to hear it: Childhood dreams can come true. My mother recently unearthed a long forgotten assignment from my 13 years of Catholic school. So much to unpack here beginning with the cover. St. Anne the Patron Saint of Fashion is confidently posing with both hands on her perfectly angled waist which is twisted just so to accentuate the cross knee toe point. The Fashion Plate St. Anne is keeping watch over her flock donning an 80’s power suit replete with a white double breasted suit jacket, princess puff shoulders and hot pink collar, cuff and buttons to match her hot pink pencil skirt and heeled open toe mules. She could also be selling you Mary Kay Cosmetics and tooling around the heavens in a pink Cadillac. Apparently, I and the other 6th graders were asked to imagine ourselves as the Patron Saint of (fill in the blank) and then describe the 3 miracles attributed to our respective saint that qualified us for canonization aka sainthood. In addition to the macabre fact that one needs to be be dead for the miracles to count, it is an amusing read. As St. Anne the Patron Saint of Fashion I was able to save some deserving damsels in dress distress and make them the belle of the ball. Upon re-reading it is obvious that I am leaning heavily into fairy tale trope as well as having little regard for paragraphs, a thesaurus and punctuation, but the assignment is a testament to staying true to the passions of our youth despite some obvious cringe. Manifestation is real.

You can read this 6th grade master work of intention below. I typed it as I know some of you are not familiar with the Catholic obsession of cursive.

Saint Anne Patron Saint of Fashion

Since the day I was born I loved beautiful clothes and later on I became a fashion designer. I also gave advice to those who wanted to know what to wear. This gave me a reputation of being an expert on fashion worldwide. This reputation stayed with me even after I died. I am now going to tell you the three miracles that were attributed to me that helped me to become a saint. The first miracle was when a poor, but pretty, young girl prayed to me for a new dress that she could wear for her wedding, for the only thing she had was a drab, patched work dress. I felt sorry for her and answered her prayers with the most beautiful wedding dress ever created. The second miracle was when the…

…parents of a beauty-loving girl began praying to me to create new styles, for their daughter was dying of boredom. It seems while she was at a a party she passed out because she kept seeing the same styled dresses and she was rapidly becoming worse. For this girl’s sake I made several different patterns that I knew she would find irresistible. The second I finished these patterns she awoke from her coma and it seemed she was fine. The third and last miracle occurred when a beautiful young girl could not become Homecoming Queen because her parents could not afford to by (buy) her a gown. She began to pray to me for help so I made one of my most beautiful gowns for her. After I finished itI placed it in her room right before she woke up. She was quite surprised and pleased. She also became Homecoming Queen! This is how I became a saint.

The End!
