Did Someone Say Fun in the Sun? The ultimate Amazon Packing Picks for your next Getaway
The promise of frozen drinks instead of frozen temps is just around the corner! If you are not lucky enough to escape the winter chill during February break, that’s okay because it will give you time to pack for your next hot weather getaway. No reason to tote around extra useless items or waste time wondering what you’re going to wear. Here’s a list of items that easily mix and match with each other that will make getting dressed part of the fun. The suggested items are selected based on their style and color and patterns as wells their functionality. However, all the items for the most part come in different colors and patterns and you pick whatever you like best. For the sake of this edit I picked items that can seamlessly work with one another in various iterations, but as always, style is individual and follow your bliss!
Here’s the packing list I selected to help you get in the Vitamin D vibes:
Underwear: The amount of days you will be away +1-2 extra. These are small so the packing impact is minimal. I always bring a neutral tone because it goes with everything whether you prefer to wear thongs with pants and a full coverage bikini with skirts.
Convertible Bra: Bring 1 bra that matches your skin tone and does it all especially if you hate strap lines and love shoulder baring styles.
Lace Bralettes or Camisoles with Built in Bras: These are great because they can also double as a top or layering piece. If your clothes can serve more than one purpose that’s a travel bonus for sure!
Bathing Suits: I always like to bring 2 so that if one is wet, the other one is ready to go. Also, sometimes you may feel like a 2 piece and other times you may not. Bathing suit preferences are very personal so I am just going to share ones that I think are super cute and flattering that have more coverage for an active beach body.
Cover ups: These are versatile so bring at least 2 and make sure they go with the rest of the items in your palette. These are a go to staple for me when I travel anywhere hot for vacay. They are chic and fun and can be worn to the beach or pool or out on the town when you layer them with your tanks or bralettes and pair with jean shorts or other bottoms. Never too hot, their breezy style is just the right addition to your holiday! This is where you can break out of the neutral zone and flaunt your fab!
Bottoms: Pack 1 pair of denim shorts, 1 drawstring short, 1 drawstring pant. I am a denim short lover. Something about classic Levi’s denim shorts says I am having a great time and have no worries except reapplying sunscreen! I also bring a pair of cozy drawstring or elastic shorts and a comfy light pant or romper. These are versatile basics that can be worn anywhere the sea breeze takes you with the switch of a shoe and bag or jewelry even if it’s a midday snooze. Wear your bottoms with the above tanks and cover ups.
Dresses/1 Pieces: Some of you like the ease of wearing just one item of clothing that does it all. I get that. These are for you. Keep in mind that in order to maximize your options being able to mix and match everything in your suitcase is still the name of the game. This way if you keep to the same color ways you can use the same accessories.
Did someone say accessories? This is where all your pieces come together and tell your fashion story.
Bags: 1 crossbody for all your important essentials that you want to keep close. Also helps when you want to be hands free whether it’s shopping for souvenirs or dancing at the disco! Of course, I make sure I have a beach bag. I prefer a shoulder bag and it has to be big enough for a towel, sunscreen, water bottle and a few other items but not too precious that it will get ruined. And I also like to bring a foldable fabric reusable bag because it always comes in handy.
Hats: These are not only stylish but protect you from the sun’s UVA and UBV rays. Some of my faves for this season are the bucket hat and the visor. They are both easier to pack than a floppy brimmed hat and for me easier to wear. Some of these visors actually are rollable so you can pack it and not worry about damaging it.
Shoes/Peds: Try to keep it to 3 pairs that go with all the items you packed. I usually start with a pair of casual but stylish sneakers for days when a (slightly) more supportive shoe is necessary. I love a simple classic white trainer for that. I usually wear these when traveling to and from my destination. I usually pack a few pairs of peds for when I wear them. Peds are the teeny tiny hidden socks that prevent chafing. No one wants to start a holiday with a blister! I also pack a pair of sandals that are water friendly usually rubber. I prefer ones with a little bit of height. Some of these platforms that are all the rage are also supposed to be super comfortable. I picked a neutral palette so that they go with everything which also has the added benefit of elongating your frame.
Sunglasses: I don’t know about you, but I never go anywhere outside of my home without them even in the winter unless of course it’s night time. The problem is that it is hard for me to find frames for my face. So, when I find a pair, I buy them. That is my story and I am sticking to it! For maximum heat I like gold frames and/or metallic lenses. Here’s some picks for you!
Gauzy Scarf/Pareo: Not quite a wrap, you can use as such or a cover up. It’s basically another layer to add to your outfit if the AC is a little too cold or your skin got a little too much sun or maybe you just want to add a little pizzazz. Easy to wear around your neck or shoulders or your waist walking through the hotel lobby.
Fun jewelry: When I travel I prefer to wear happy casual jewelry that reminds me that I am on vacation especially bracelets and necklaces. Here’s some options to start and then have a blast shopping local bling when you are sightseeing.
