I came across this A.L.C. dress at Neiman Marcus while casually searching online for something to wear to my cousin’s November wedding - congratulations, Laura and Matt! Chic and sexy, like the happy couple (wink), this dress has a blouson top and smocked waistband with long pleats that sinuously drape the legs in just the right way. This sexy silhouette is flattering for so many figures. The high neckline can also be worn with a t-strap bra which is much more comfortable for any dancing queen than a strapless. And, finally, I love how this swingy mid-length skirt is ready to party with a center high-low handkerchief hem.

What is a “dress casual” shoes? It’s a shoe that you would wear when you want to convey a relaxed upscale look for the office - khakis, anyone? - or date night at a nice restaurant where there are linen napkins and valet parking. You may wear them without socks, or as I recommend, hidden socks - get the look without the discomfort! They are not usually tie shoes but more of a loafer aesthetic. An unfussy style, they ooze OOO (checking a message occasionally). Conversely, you can achieve a dress casual look with a sneaker if the sneaker is less athletic and more shoe-like which usually means a more streamlined sleek look. Both of these are staples that will serve any wardrobe well.
